Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery always takes initiative to organize workshops and guest lectures for the benefit of students. This time on 15th Nov 2011 we had the privilege to invite SWAROVSKI GEMS the newly renamed, world-renowned brand for genuine gem stones and created stones, to present Gem Vision2012 - the pioneering Design and trend initiative.
The topic covered during the lecture was Emerging Indian Trends in the year 2012. The lecture was conducted by Ms Nancy – Senior Consultant-Gem Creative, who was assisted by Mr. Vivek Gurung (Sr. Sales Manager-Created Gems).
Ms Nancy Stated that India- A paradise of craftsmanship has a great potential to accept emerging trends due to its amazing diversity. Trends 2012 would be inspired by cultural influence namely Dances, textiles and festivals from different parts of India.
As the 20th century slowly recedes, we begin to look forward, to focus on the future and design moves firmly and forcefully into the 21st century, rejecting nostalgia and reinvention while embracing the past and its traditions by way of extraordinary ingenuity and pure innovation, underlined by emotional values, thus inspiring and influencing the spirits that will move Designs trends of 2012.
The Inspirations and influences for trends 2012 would be based on:
1. Neo-tradition
2. Sensation
3. Pure innovation
4. Creativity
The Design direction would be based on a special theme dedicated to India “Passionate India”, comprising elements like studio, fiction, fantasy, and luminescence. Target consumer, textures and materials used would be the integral part of this theme.
While working on this theme one will have to keep in mind elements like:
• Colors and Cuts of the stones
• Alluring beauty of tradition and culture
• Precious reflections of the integral patterns
• Shimmering lights and color explosions from the
vibrancy of festivals and celebrations
• Organic flow in harmony with nature
• Spiritual passion-a strong connection to nature
• Contemporary edged to let modernity meet tradition
• Cultural fusion to explore the regional differences of India.
The lecture given by SWAROVSKI GEMS has proved to be a very important guide for the students learning jewellery to stay connected with the changing trends. In order to make these guidelines more useful for the students SWAROVSKI GEMS also distributed magazines ‘Gemvisions India’ which could be referred by the students. With the help of this presentation IIGJ Faculty will be able to guide the students and keep them in sync with the changing trends thus keeping them to be ahead of other institutes. |
